Watch Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale leading the race for India MRCA Deal Video Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale leading the race for India MRCA Deal
Nov 29, 2011
After exhaustive trials of six fighter jets, Indian Air Force (IAF) has made its choice clear to the Government on the kind of fighter jets needed. Front runners for the force are French fighter Dassault Rafale and the Eurofighter Typhoon built by the European consortium. Bernhard Gerwert, Chief, EADS, says "If you are taking into account the portfolio of EADS we can bring the bridge between civil aviation and military aviation." But the Americans and Russians have lost out. Boeing's F18 no longer a frontrunner and Sweden's Gripen too falling off the Indian radar. Despite MiG 35s big thunder, its engine failing to impress while the F-16, according to the IAF has no future. Another reason favoring Rafale and Euro fighter is political. Thomas Matussek, German Ambassador, "We regard India as a strategic security partner and this is why we do not insist on an end user monitoring agreement period." So when the mother of all defence deals is signed for the 126 Multi-Role Combat Aircraft either Rafale or the Euro fighter will fly away with the Rs 42000 crore deal.

Raza Naqvi, Urdu VOA News, Washington- The Indian Air Force is in the market for a revamp of its mid-level air fleet. Among the bidders for the $10 billion potential deal are American arms manufactures Lockheed Martin and Boeing. Ashton Carter, Undersecretary of State for Defense Acquisitions, said at a recent forum at the Carnegie Endowment that the deal could help further improve US-India relations, but said that it would not affect America's relationship with India's neighbors Pakistan and China. Ashley Tellis of Carnegie, who recently completed a study on the deal, said it would be of great benefit to America's defense and diplomatic relations with India as well as for US economy. The revamp of the air fleet could potentially change the conventional arms ratios of India and Pakistan but Shuja Nawaz of the Atlantic Council insists that Pakistan does not have the resources for an arms race, and the nuclear deterrent should be enough to keep Pakistan safe.

Incredible !ndia Promo. For those people who requested the meaning of the song. "Sā - Ni - Dha - Pa - Pa Dha - Pa - Ga - Sa - Ri Sa - Sa - Ga - Pa - Dha Dha - Pa - Ga - Ri - Ga Sā - Ni - Dha - Pa - Pa Dha - Pa - Ga - Sa - Ri Sa - Sa - Dha - Pa - Dha Dha - Pa - Ga - Sa - Sa" "sa-ri-ga-ma-pa-dha-ni" is [somewhat] equivalent to western "do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti" India, being the birth place of many "divine seven" concepts (like seven sages, seven virgins, 2x7 different levels of this cosmic world, seven cyclic notes of music, etc.), defines [as per Carnatic music tradition] these notes as follows: Fixed/immovable notes (1st & 5th) Sa (Sadjam) represents Paramāthmā, the superior being or the source of all energies Pa (Panchamam) represents Jīvāthmā, worldly beings (to generalize, planetary beings, including humans) Other varying/movable notes Ri (Rishabham), Ga (Gāndhāram), Ma (Madhyamam), Dha (Dhaivatam) and Ni (Nishādam) represent the five elements of the cosmos. Clearly, Sā-Ni-Dha-Pa-Pa (the divine seven musical notes) speaks of music, melody or harmony of life. "Athithi dévo bhava" is a part of Taittirīya (deals with 'from food to joy') Upanishad "Mãtru dévo bhava, Pitru dévo bhava, Ãchãrya dévo bhava, Athithi dévo bhava". Means Mother, Father, Guru/Teacher and Guests (athithi) are divine, should be revered as God.
